The Carphone Warehouse had recently tried to talk to Tiscali about the sale of Tiscali’s UK operations. However, it had to pull out because the asking price was apparently too high. Now, Tiscali is again back on the negotiating table and Carphone holds the top spot as a potential buyer. Carphone had also recently announced that it is going to de-merge from the broadband company TalkTalk. With a huge debt burden weighing heavily on Tiscali, it has been trying to get a good deal for its UK arm. It had started with the hopes of making about £600 million from the deal, but is now having to significantly lower the asking price after all negotiations failed. The company might now be getting less than half of what it had initially aimed to get. For more information on broadband providers, click here. The news of Tiscali starting negotiations again was confirmed in an official statement released by a spokesperson. The statement said that the company is looking for ways to dispose off its UK operations as soon as possible and thereby raising enough money to pay the debt. The ISP is currently facing a debt amounting to £453 million, and many analysts have speculated that the company may not be able to survive for much longer. Even though the talks have resumed, the amount that Tiscali will be getting will not please the management, but the prime concern right now will be to help the company survive this crisis.
