These events took place long before the Cold War was over. We should revise some of the controversial moments. Being an educated society we need to realize the consequences of interaction of politics and sports on the international stage. The year 1984 was famous for the boycott the Soviet Union and other socialist countries decided to arrange. The Olympic Games held in LA were ignored by the countries of Eastern Europe for several reasons. The Olympic Committee received the statement two weeks before the official opening. One of the fears of the Committee was that other East European countries would do the same and when the opening was over their suspicions came true. The only one to participate from the East of Europe was Romania. To everybody’s surprise Cuba also joined the boycott supporting Soviet Union.
Delegation members enlisted commercialization and poor security conditions as the reasons of boycott. After the statement was promulgated the analysts saw another reason in the boycott. They considered the maneuvers of Soviet Union a response to the US that boycotted the Olympic Games in Moscow, protesting against the invasion of Russian troops in Afghanistan. I remember I only learned how to write a good article and I was analyzing the situation around this famous sporting event. It was obvious that only a few people believed that the boycott was arranged due to the reasons enumerated by the Soviet Delegation. The White House announced their positions towards the situation calling a boycott a political act. Many officials stated that security level was high enough for everybody to feel secure. Over 140 athletes competed at the Olympic Games but the level of quality could be higher. The countries from Eastern Europe were mostly the gold medal holders of the last Olympic Games where representatives of every country participated.
Despite the great success of the Games that became profitable without financial support of the government, the boycott made us think over the roles that politics and sports play in our lives. And interesting fact is that these Olympic Games were not the first case of politicization of an International Event. Even after the Cold war politics and sport go hand in hand even today. Peking’s desire to stage the Olympic Games was disinclined for somewhat political reasons. When Beijing was announced the Olympic Games holder, opinions concerning this fact also split up. Some communities and parties saw political motivation in this decision. The conflict will never be exhausted as long as controversial political currents get involved in the International sporting affairs.

Do you know that in the United States pets outnumber people?
Recent statistics show that there are about 380 million pets opposed to 290 million people? 62 % of the households own a pet, and 46% of all households own more than one pet.
The most common pet in the USA is the cat (of which there are 78 million pet cats), next comes the dog (there are 65 million dogs), the third most popular pet is birds (18 million). The other top pets are small animals and fish, but there are a lot less of these than cats and dogs.
More and more people are buying pets because they realise the great advantages of having a pet, a pet is a great companion, a loyal friend and a part of the family. Since a pet has such an important role to play in your life it is important thinking hard to pick the right pet for you.
Careful research before allowing the new member in can save a lot of frustration later. If you and your pet are not compatible, your coexistence will not be peaceful and eventually you may have to expel the poor creature, because it is you, who made the wrong judgment.
If you are choosing a pet the real choice you are probably making is whether to get a dog or a cat, perhaps you are considering a pet that requires less effort such as a fish or bird also. If you decide to opt for a dog you must then choose what breed of dog toget, with over 150 breeds you are spoiled for choice!
Dogs are considered to be more of a companion or friend than a cat, however dogs require more care than cats. Cats are far more independent - they tend to spend a lot of time off by themselves, they also tend to form more of bond with the home where they live than with the people they live with.
It is very important to figure out how much space the pet needs and whether you can provide it. If you live in a small flat and there is not enough room, think about whether a dog will be happy in that confined space. Even a cat might feel imprisoned. Probably in this case the best selection is birds or fish, because they do not need much space.
If you are away from home often and live alone you have to think about who would mind a dog if you got one, dogs cannot be left alone at home without someone to check on them occassionally, to feed them and walk them. There might be a neighbour or pet hostel who would take care of your dog while your away, if not then maybe a dog isn’t a good option. Cats do not like being left alone either, despite their independence.
If you choose a dog you must remember they need to be walked once or twice a day and that they need space in which to live. This is particularly true of large breeds of dog such as St Bernards. Large dogs also eat a lot which must be factored into your costs.
A big dog can be useful, it can be trained to act as a gaurd dog for example and is a highly visible (and audible!) deterrent to potential burglars. Small dogs have unique advantages also - they take up less space, are usually very friendly and love playing, and they do not need long walks so are ideally suited for children and the elderly.
Whatever your final decision, the most important thing is to do your homework — research the facts and consider what will suit you best — because if it doesn’t suit you, your new pet will be unhappy also.

An 86-year-old graphic designer recently filed a lawsuit against Volkswagon saying he is the designer of the original, nearly 60-year-old VW logo. Nikolai Borg doesn’t want financial compensation. He is suing Volkswagon for not recognizing his hand in the design.
“I am not after money,” Borg said in an article on FreelanceUK.com. “I just want to live to see my work acknowledged. I will not settle for anything less than historical acceptance.”
Borg claims a senior Nazi commissioned him to design the now world famous logo just before WW II. After being told the project was “on hold,” he was surprised to see his very own design appear on military vehicles a few years later. He has been trying to get recognition ever since.
Credit-taking in the graphic design world is full of grey territory. A company might hire a designer to come up with a logo, and then hire a different company to update their logo a few years later. The changes in design might be small, and may even go unnoticed by most people. But who has the credit for coming up with the design?
Which designers have the right to list them as the originator of a particular look? Certainly the original designer deserves credit for coming up with a solid design, but doesn’t a subsequent designer deserve credit for improving a design, especially if the logo the company uses is a result of the work of a second or even third designer?
For all we know, Mr. Borg submitted a great design, which was then tweaked, perhaps even several times, and then brought into use.
And what about companies that hire a designer to come up with logo concepts, then take those concepts and have an in-house designer work with them until they have the logo they were looking for all along? This is not illegal, since the company in essence buys the ideas from the designer. The company can do whatever they want with them once that transaction is complete.
But getting credit where it is deserved can be a tricky, sometimes frustrating game, as I’m sure Nikolai Borg can attest.

Lemon law in Wisconsin applies both to purchased and leased vehicles. In the event that the car you purchased turns out to be a lemon as defined by Wisconsin lemon law, the manufacturer is obliged to either replace the vehicle free of charge or provide you with a full refund (minus the amortization allowance for accrued mileage).
It should be noted that lemon laws in the United States differ from state to state and therefore the specific provisions of the Wisconsin lemon law may not be entirely applicable to the lemon law in Ohio, Texas or Missouri. Therefore, while this article deals primarily with lemon law in Wisconsin, it should be understood that you should consult with the specific provisions lemon law in your own state before seeking compensation.
Wisconsin lemon law defines a vehicle as a “lemon” if the defect in the car has prevented you from using the vehicle for at least 30 days (not necessarily consecutive). Alternatively, a vehicle is also defined as a “lemon” if the malfunction cannot be fixed after four attempts by the dealer. In order to be eligible for seeking restitution under Wisconsin lemon law, your case must meet the following criteria:
- The vehicle must purchased or leased in Wisconsin
- The vehicle must be a motorcycle, motor home, car or truck
- The vehicle began exhibiting signs of malfunction within the first year after purchase
- The vehicle began exhibiting signs of malfunction before the warranty expired
- The vehicle’s defects seriously impair the vehicle’s use, safety or value
- Within the first year and before the warranty expired, the dealer either failed to repair the defect after making four attempts, or the vehicle was out of order for at least 30 days (not necessarily consecutive) due to these defects
Wisconsin lemon law differentiates between minor and major malfunctions - in order to be eligible for compensation under the local lemon law, your vehicle must have a serious malfunction that is also covered by the warranty. On the bright side, Wisconsin lemon law does not set a specific deadline within which your claim must be filed - instead, it is up to the court to decide whether your case is too old to be accepted or not.
If you feel that you may have a lemon on your hands and would like to pursue your case in accordance with Wisconsin lemon law, consulting with an attorney is probably the best thing you can do if contacting the manufacturer directly fails. To ensure that you have sufficient evidence to substantiate your legal claim, make sure that you always keep receipts of repair orders, even if no actual repairs have been made.

Think whatever you might of William Jefferson Clinton, you have to give the ever-smiling overachiever credit.
He finds, in the lassitude of his post-Presidential years, a devoted and commendable calling to charity. And so canny is the man that he is able to extract a $5 million advance from Knopf to write a book about his benevolence.
While there have been many noble people who have given their lives to charitable acts, it is a rare person indeed who can find a way to make millions out of it.
We can all rest assured that he is now even more abundantly funded to keep up his meritorious work.
